Special Joint Membership Meeting

Special Joint Membership Meeting

There will be a Special Joint Membership Meeting 12:30PM in the Sanctuary immediately following the service to vote on Pastor Rick’s candidacy. Your presence and participation matter—we hope you’ll be there.  To learn more about Pastor Rick, please see his bio below. Your presence and participation matter—we hope you’ll be there.

English Lead Pastoral Candidate - Pastor Rick Gordon

英語堂帶領牧者候選人 - 郭敦雷牧師

Pastor Rick Gordon has passionately served in ministry for almost thirty years and has experienced a variety of roles during that time. He has been a lead pastor, youth pastor, music ministry team member and summer camp staff to mention some of those roles.

He first felt called to ministry while completing his BSc in Biology from the University of New Brunswick - Saint John and serving as youth leader at his small country church. Before attending Taylor Seminary, in Edmonton, for his MDiv in Pastoral Ministry, he toured across North America, with New Creation Ministries, to proclaim the gospel and bring encouragement, through music, drama and preaching to churches, camps and prisons. While in Edmonton, he was also a morning show co-host and host of a weekly call-in program named, “Ask the Pastor” on AM930 The Light. He began serving in the English ministry of Lansdowne Chinese Baptist Church while in seminary and truly deepened his passion for missions and worship while there. For more than twenty years, he held a variety of volunteer and leadership roles with Break Forth Canada, the largest equipping and renewal event in North America (at that time). One of his greatest joys comes from the church intentionally and passionately honoring God with their worship (privately and publicly).

For the last eighteen years Pastor Rick has served as the lead pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church which was in partnership with Calgary Rainbow Christian Church (CRCC) for sixteen of those years. The second-generation youth and young adults from CRCC attended Lakeview which resulted in a unique and blessed partnership. He has also been involved with ESL and international student ministries during his time at Lakeview. He has taken many teens and young adults on short-term mission trips to Mexico and desires to see the church truly take on the challenge of the Great Commission and send more people to the ends of the earth. Pastor Rick desires to serve and love God with all that he is and all that he does and to love others. He brings this mindset into all areas of his life, even his hobbies such as hiking, music, cycling, geocaching, gardening or beekeeping.

Pastor Rick was born in New Brunswick but lived all over Canada due to his father being in the army. He has been blessed to be married to his lovely wife, Jackie, for twenty-five years. He is also exceedingly grateful for his two sons, Luke (a student at U of A) and Zach (heading to YWAM in September). As a family, they have a unifying faith in Jesus and desire to follow Him. They strive to have a lasting impact on this world by allowing Jesus to work in and through them.
