OUR STORY
We are a volunteer-led group made up of your neightbors advocating for people friendly streets in Evergreen.

The Everridge Drive “Paint the Pavement” is a project that came into being from our concern over the safety of our children and families crossing Everridge Drive. With a grant from ActivateYYC, we hope that painting the curbsides on Everridge Dr. and Everhollow Rise SW will bring colour to our neighborhood and make the street safer to cross.

GET INVOLVED

Traffic and speeding have been an issue on Everridge Drive. We believe a vibrant neighborhood means safe streets for everyone. Your voice matters. Support people-friendly streets in Evergreen!

Paint the Pavement is a temporary pilot project meant to paint where speed cushions, curb extensions, and other traffic calming measure should be traditonally located. We need YOUR help to advocate for traffic calming measures. Studies have shown that self-enforcing traffic measures (design features that naturally slow down drivers) such as curb extensions and speed bumps are a better sustainable solution than police enforced measures that are dependent on the whims of police presence. Tony Churchhill, city of Calgary’s form mobility safety lead in a 2025 Calgary Herald article said, “One thing that I can’t stress enough is the importance and impact of speed,” he said, adding estimates in other jurisdictions indicate that if everyone strictly followed the speed limit, injuries and fatalities could be reduced by around 70 per cent.

311 - GUIDE
WE often hear that the City of Calgary is data driven and will take action based on numbers of 311 ticket requests. Let’s give them human data they need to provide safe streets in Evergreen.

  1. Call 311 or go to https://www.calgary.ca/311/311-online-services.html

  2. search for “ Roads - Safety and Education

  3. Location: Everridge Dr SW & Everhollow Rise SW

  4. Concern: Traffic Calming Measures

  5. Mention concerns for the safety for children and pedestrians, due to speeding and volume of cars short cutting in our neighborhood. There is a large crossing distance at this crosswalk, it’s pedstrian heavy due to two schools on either side of Everridge, school bus stops, and city bus stops on opposite corners. Include personal examples of close calls of cars and pedestrians.

  6. Request a to install traffic calming measures such as raised sidewalks and/or speed cushions at this intersection.
