06.27.2021 Mental Illness And The Scriptures: Randy Rohrick

Scripture Passages for Further Study:

  • Colossians 3:1-4

  • 1 Peter 5:6,7

  • Psalm 22

Questions for Thought & Discussion:

1. What do you think that the church or even Christian families have been lacking in its discussion and acceptance of mental illness? Do you think we have gotten better as there has been a call to help those who struggle with mental illness? Why or why not?

2. Have you or do you struggle with mental health issues? How has this influenced your relationship with others? How has it influenced your relationship with God?

This Week’s Application Activity:

If you or someone you love is struggling with mental health issues ask the Lord for healing. Have leaders of the church anoint and pray for you. If the struggles continue, find a trusted professional who can assist you. The Lord often heals through the help of others.

Remember:

No matter what we are going through, God is for us and not against us. Be patient. Trust the Lord. Follow His lead.

QUESTIONS FOR THOUGHT & DISCUSSION

How do we position ourselves to hear from the Lord?

What is the best part about hearing from God? What might be a challenge in hearing His Word?

THIS WEEK’S APPLICATION ACTIVITY

Ask God to speak to you. Be patient and still. If you feel the Lord speaks to you, write the message down. Keep it close to your heart and mind. If you are ready, share the message God has spoken to you with another.
